Mastery of order–disorder processes in highly nonequilibrium nanostructured oxides has significant implications for the development emerging energy technologies. However, we are presently limited our ability to quantify and harness these at high spatial, chemical, temporal resolution, particularly extreme environments. Here, describe percolation disorder model oxide interface LaMnO3/SrTiO3, which visualize during situ ion irradiation transmission electron microscope. We observe formation a network initial stages track global progression system full disorder. couple measurements with detailed structural chemical probes, examining possible underlying defect mechanisms responsible this unique percolative behavior.
